A student came up to me and with lips pursed said, "I just can't take it anymore! My lips are KILLING me!"

When discussing how places and buildings change over time, I asked the class,
"Does our school look really different now compared to when I was in first grade?" Some shook their head yes and some no.
I asked, "Why did some of you say no?" and a student answered,
"Because it wasn't that long ago that you were in first grade
[ie: you aren't THAT old!]."
(GOOD answer!) ;)

When a child was trying to read the word 'why,' he struggled with it for a moment and then proceeded with, "Wh......iskey!?" with an innocent voice. As the word came up again throughout the page, he defaulted to "Whiskey" as his go-to word.

I asked a student about a picture he had drawn of himself capturing a leprechaun. I noticed something in the corner and wasn't sure what it was, so I said, "Tell me about this part," and he said, "That's a mouse. He's watching me and eating popcorn!"

When asking a student to tie her shoe, she responded with,
"Mmm....that's classified information,"
and when telling another student that I would love to have her imagination she said, "You can borrow it!"

Working on a Bible book about Heaven, the kids were helping me complete the sentence,
"Jesus is making....." and one student filled in the blank with, "ME HUNGRY!"
After hearing what Jesus did on the cross for us, another student said very empathetically, "After hearing that story, I just feel like we should do something to pay Him back!" so we talked about living a life that's pleasing to Him, sharing the Gospel with others, and we even prayed The Sinner's Prayer! Hallelujah! May His name be praised!
